NEXT Energy Takes Step Forward in Commercializing OPV Glass

NEXT Energy Technologies took a step forward in commercializing its transparent organic photovoltaic (OPV) glass after installing six PV windows at its headquarters in Santa Barbara, California.

According to company officials, the windows measure 40 by 60 inches and cover 100 square feet. Each insulating glass unit uses NEXT’s OPV coating on the outboard lite and runs cables through the framing system. The windows were fabricated with low-E coated inboard lites and spacers supplied by Viracon. Walters & Wolf designed, supplied and installed the framing system as part of the façade integration.
